Duplicity

I often ask myself what has changed in modern society that has allowed us to be anesthetized to the murder of children – abortion. I can’t help but feel that we have gone to war for much less and have gone to war for similar causes. Just writing this is likely putting me on some government watch list, but I think it is a point for all of us to consider; not to incite violence, but to consider the gravity of the degradation of our collective consciousness.

A perfect example of the duplicity, unreasonableness and illogicality of our society cropped up over the last couple months. I read a news article about a month ago about a woman who was found to have 6 dead babies concealed in a storage unit. Only a few days ago I read another article from The Globe and Mail titled, “Determining if dead babies were old enough to be people crucial: lawyer“. The original article used verbiage like “disturbing” and “shocking” while later articles focused on the potential for these babies to be stripped of their personhood based on their age. So on the one hand we are horrified at the depravity of this woman, but on the other she is vindicated because of a ridiculous legal definition?

I don’t want to harp on this as I think you all get what I am trying to say. The title of The Globe and Mail article referenced above really sums it up.
