The Tosa Village is a small but vibrant pocket of life in Milwaukee. Restaurants, boutiques and cafes tucked in old, Cream City Brick buildings provide a diverse list of options for hungry locals and visitors. Firefly, Bartolatta, Cafe Bavaria and Le Reve are classy places to enjoy a meal or drink with friends. Add Lucky Joe’s Alchemy & Eatery to the list. A short walk from Bartolatta and Bavaria, it’s only been open for six months, but you’ll definitely want to check it out.

As the photos show, the intimate atmosphere is very cool. During lunch hours, you’ll usually be eating to the music of golden-age crooners like Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin. In the evenings, the beat is more contemporary, but appropriate for this sophisticated setting. So many restaurants don’t get the connection between music and atmosphere, but it’s so important. In this category, Lucky Joe’s succeeds.

The bearded co-owner wore his hipster credentials like the tattoos on his arms, and was eager to talk up his new establishment. I can also report that the food at Lucky Joe’s is exceptional. Check over the menu below. Another great thing is that it’s very reasonably priced.
