The news just keeps getting more surreal and disturbing by the day. Earlier, I read that the president will issue a decree that all public schools must provide transgender-friendly bathrooms for children who identify as such. For someone who claims to be firmly on the side of science and empirical observation when it comes to the environment, the president and his ilk are strikingly selective when it comes to their take on simple biology. Based on evidence, the science is “clear” on climate change, we’re told, but not on anatomy? That we can just make up, based on how one “identifies” on any given day. How…unscientific. You might say instead, how ideological and irrational.
In these days of moral relativism, where reason and the most basic truths of existence are ridiculed and labeled hate speech, it’s necessary to turn to Our Lady of Fatima, whose feast we commemorate today, May 13. Her appeal, to pray the rosary daily for the conversion of sinners and to offer sacrifices in reparation for the sins of humanity, has never been more timely and urgent. As discouraging as the present is, it’s vital to remember the consolation and promise given by the Virgin Mary at Fatima:
“In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”
