Jake RossI realize the surreal story I’m sharing is a few weeks old, but it resonates within the context of a powerful quote I came across by Archbishop Fulton Sheen who was observing the ascending moral bankruptcy in America.
It is characteristic of any decaying civilization that the great masses of the people are unaware of the tragedy.
Humanity in a crisis is generally insensitive to the gravity of the times in which it lives.
Men do not want to believe that their own times are wicked, partly because they have no standard outside of themselves by which to measure their times. If there is no fixed concept of justice, how shall men know it is violated?
Only those who live by faith really know what is happening in the world; the great masses without faith are unconscious of the destructive processes going on, because they have lost the vision of the heights from which they have fallen.
For sane, faithful people, the short video below, about a middle-aged man who believes he’s a six year-old girl, sheds light on the extent of moral depredation in our society, as well as the general insouciance that so many millions of Americans have adopted toward it. The fact that we are now faced with having to defend our faith and civilization from these types of psychological pathologies should be enough evidence to prove that widespread societal madness has set in and serve as a wake up call. Yet the bar continues to fall at an alarming pace and few seem to care.
A rational person would question the perversity reported here before signing off on it, but in our post-Christian society, simply asking one to use his intellect has become a task far too onerous. You see, reason is now the enemy, along with primordial truths like, Male and female he created them.
Archbishop Sheen was right of course, and prescient. Our civilization has become anesthetized to the cannibalistic process destroying it. The question remains, how much farther will we fall before we hit bottom?
